Translate & review

The four steps

1

Save the drawing, then type the command

In AutoCAD, save your drawing first. The tool reads the file from the disk, so it refuses to run while you have unsaved changes. Then type MNTRANSLATE and press Enter.

It works with no internet and takes a minute or two on a big drawing. AutoCAD stays usable while it runs. Type MNSTATUS to see how far along it is, or MNCANCEL to stop it safely.

2

You get three files, next to your drawing

FD-8001.dwgyour original, untouched
FD-8001_MN.dwgthe translated copy. Open this one
FD-8001-to-translate.csvwhat still needs a person. Your work

The command line reports something like applied 69, needs review 36, unchanged 2606, and says how many came from the company glossary, the base glossary and the AI. “Unchanged” is mostly numbers, tags and dimensions that must never be translated. “Needs review” is what went into the CSV.

3

Open the CSV in Excel and fill in one column

Only one column is yours: Mongolian (FILL IN). Work down from the top. Rows are sorted so the text that appears most often comes first, and that is where your time pays off most. Text written on several lines of the drawing stays on several lines here; keep one translated line per line.

When you are done, save it as CSV. Keep the same file type; do not save it as an Excel workbook.

4

Hand it back, then run it again

In AutoCAD, type MNMERGE and pick your saved CSV. Then type MNTRANSLATE again.

Everything you filled in now translates by itself, on this drawing and on every drawing after it, permanently. The ten minutes you spend here, you never spend again.

Which columns to touch

ColumnWhat it is
Mongolian (FILL IN)Fill thisYour translation. Leave it blank if you are not sure.
Approved? (y)Type yOnly when a draft is already there and it is correct exactly as written.
ChineseRead onlyThe text taken from the drawing.
AI suggestedRead onlyWhat the computer proposed. It stays as the record, so make your corrections in the Mongolian column instead.
KindRead onlystring is real text from the drawing, so do these. term is a leftover word fragment, so skip those rows.
OccurrencesRead onlyHow many times that text appears. Higher is worth more of your time.
Known terms insideRead onlyAlready-approved words found inside that text. Use them, so wording stays consistent across the project.

Do not delete, rename or reorder any column. If one is missing, the tool refuses the whole file rather than guess what happened to it.

Rules

Always safe

  • Leaving a row blank. Blank rows are simply ignored.
  • Running MNTRANSLATE again, as many times as you like.
  • Opening the _MN copy to look at it. Your original is never touched.
  • Running MNUPDATE. An update never opens or changes a drawing.

Never

  • Typing y without reading the draft. It becomes an approved word, used on every future drawing.
  • Issuing the translated copy without comparing it to the original by eye.
  • Adding a word just to fix one drawing. A word is approved for the whole project, or not at all.
  • Moving, renaming or deleting the program folders. Reinstall with Install.cmd instead.

Using AI drafts

MNTRANSLATE never touches the internet. MNTRANSLATEAI is a separate command that does the same job, and then asks the configured AI to draft whatever the glossary could not resolve. Which command you type is the only thing that decides this. No setting can put the plain command online.

A

What you get instead

The same three files, but the CSV arrives with drafts already in it. The AI suggested column holds what the computer proposed, and the Mongolian column is pre-filled with the same text so you can accept or correct it. Nothing is written into a drawing.

The run takes longer because it waits on the provider. AutoCAD stays usable. MNSTATUS shows which provider is working and how many batches have finished, and MNCANCEL stops it. If one batch fails, the batches that already succeeded are kept.

B

Your job does not change

Read every draft. Either correct the Mongolian column, or type y beside it if it is right exactly as written. A draft you leave untouched is not used. That is deliberate: the tool would rather leave text in Chinese than put a word nobody checked onto an issued sheet.

The Notes column shows a confidence figure. That is the computer grading itself and it carries no weight at all. A draft marked 1.00 can still be wrong, and one has been.

C

Translate everything at once

In v0.6.1-beta.1, MNTRANSLATEFORCE uses the glossary first. Exact approved matches do not need AI; known terms inside longer labels are protected while AI translates the unresolved text. It writes a translated DWG copy and a bilingual FD-8001_force_<date>.csv. Review the copy and every flagged row before issuing. Use MNAPPLY to apply corrected, approved rows to a new copy. FORCE output is a draft, not a checked translation. Older releases may send every Chinese string to AI.

D

What leaves your computer

AI commands send unresolved text, drawing-text context and relevant glossary information to the configured provider. In the v0.6.1-beta.1 FORCE pipeline, exact approved matches bypass AI. The DWG file and its geometry are not uploaded by these commands. Older FORCE releases can send every Chinese string.

Do not use these commands where client policy forbids sending drawing text to an outside provider. Ask before you run them on work that is not yours. MNREVIEWAI is the same idea for checking: it adds the AI's opinion to a review and cannot change either drawing.
