Installation
Installing on a new computer
Unzip the Setup package
You receive one file, CmnCadTranslator-Setup-<version>.zip (the version number changes). Right-click it, choose Extract All, and open the extracted folder. Do not run anything from inside the zip.
Close AutoCAD, then double-click Install.cmd
A window shows each step and waits at the end. Installation takes under a minute, needs no administrator rights and no internet. It installs the plug-in, the updater, these guides and a CmnCadTranslator entry in the Start menu. Glossaries already on the computer are kept.
If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway. The package is checked with SHA-256 before anything is installed; a damaged or altered file is refused.
Start AutoCAD and choose Always Load
This is a third-party add-on. It is not part of AutoCAD, it did not come from Autodesk, and it is not digitally signed. So the first time AutoCAD starts, it asks your permission, in a dialog naming CmnCadTranslator (usually titled Security – Unsigned Executable File). Seeing it here is expected.
| If you choose | What happens |
|---|---|
| Always Load | The right answer. It loads now and every time after, and you never see the prompt again. |
| Load Once | It works for this session only. The prompt comes back every time you start AutoCAD. |
| Do Not Load | None of the commands exist. Typing MNTRANSLATE gives Unknown command. Restart AutoCAD to get the prompt again. |
Then type MNVERSION. It prints the plug-in version, the updater and the CmnCadTranslator folder. If it says Unknown command, the plug-in is not loaded: see the troubleshooting page.
